Townsville Tongan Church opened

On 14th March, 2010, Rev Stuart Hall (Assistant District Superintendent) installed Rev Kitione Fanaika as pastor of the new Tongan fellowship in Townsville. This is the third Wesleyan Methodist church in Townsville and the eighth in the district. The occasion was enriched by the attendance of a prince from Tonga, Sione Ngu Tukuaho, Lieutenant of the Tongan Navy. With him were his Corporal, Paea Funaki and 34 sailors. This group of unexpected visitors filled the church to capacity and was gratefully received as a sign of God's blessing upon the new work.

Rev Gary McClintock, newly appointed District Superintendent for the North QLD District arrived in Townsville in time to pray for the new pastor and his church board. That evening they were joined by other members of the District Board and the National Superintendent at a feast at Rev Kitione's home.
