Building Classrooms for the Future: Expanding Theological Training in the Pacific

Imagine sitting in a classroom with open walls, and the noisy smelly four wheel drive goes past with 5 people on the back waving at you. Or each person that walks out the front entrance turns to see what is going on. This is the current distracting environment that students at the Training Centre in Noro currently experience.

Nine years ago, the Wesleyan Methodist Training Centre in Noro was little more than a jungle clearing. Today, by God’s grace, it has grown into a central hub for theological education, leadership training, and ministry development, equipping pastors and ministry leaders to serve their churches and communities more effectively.

Over the years, there has been significant progress in the facilities, whilst over 200 students have been completed courses. The Training Centre now operates completely off grid using solar/battery power, has an upgraded library/reading room, high-speed internet access with up to date computers for students to effectively study.

Through online learning, students can now earn a Certificate IV in Christian Ministry and Theology without having to leave their communities. This has been a game-changer, making accredited theological training as well as other training, accessible to those who would otherwise be unable to study.

The Need for Classrooms

Despite these advancements, there is still have a major challenge—there are no classrooms. Currently, classes take place in the open-walled chapel by the main driveway or in the library/reading room, which limits the ability to run multiple courses and provide a focused learning environment.

That’s why we are launching an exciting new project: building three dedicated classrooms at the Training Centre. These classrooms will:

✅ Provide a stable, distraction-free learning space for students

✅ Enable multiple classes to run at the same time

✅ Strengthen our ability to host students and lecturers from across the Pacific region, aligning with our vision of “Everywhere to Everywhere”

How You Can Get Involved

In 2025 we are trusting God to provide AUD $65,000 to complete this project. Some churches and individuals have already committed $5,000–$10,000, while others are contributing by coming to Noro in 2026 to work alongside local builders in constructing the classrooms.

Would you prayerfully consider partnering with us? Your support—whether through financial giving, sharing this project with others, or visiting Noro to be part of the work—will make a lasting impact.
