Youth Pastor/Director @ Hills Church

Hills Church is seeking a youth pastor (or director) to join a team of dedicated staff and volunteers.

We are a multi-generational church with an average attendance of approximately 300 that has served the northwest suburbs of Brisbane, Australia for over 40 years. We’re very optimistic about our future and all that God has planned for Hills Church! Our mission statement is in 4 parts, Glorify God, Embrace People, Plant Seeds and Make Disciples. Each ministry in the church sets goals to meet this mission through various methods of outreach and discipleship.

Primary Responsibilities: This position has 1 specific area of ministry plus general assistant pastor duties:

1. Lead and develop the youth ministry of the church into a vibrant and growing ministry.
2. General pastoral duties as required.

Qualifications
• A testimony of growing personal faith and evident love for God and others.
• Experience in working with youth in a church setting and a passion for young people to encounter Jesus and for effective discipleship.
• A suitable tertiary qualification in ministry, or in the process or studying for a ministry qualification.
• A strong interest in community engagement.
• A good track record of supporting a pastor and understanding the mission of the church and what is involved to work within a team.
• References that testify to your emotional and spiritual maturity.
• Alignment with the theology and values of the Wesleyan Methodist Church and willingness to pursue ordination (if not already).

The key attributes we are seeking are emotional maturity, teachability, a positive attitude, and a person who shows good initiative (i.e. self-motivated).

Ideally the right candidate will have the skills and experience to undertake the whole job, but should there be any lack of experience or ability to cover the whole job description, we are very willing to assist the candidate with training, mentoring and development as required.
