DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT

Rev. Rex Rigby
(DS SQ District; National Superintendent)

Rev Rex Rigby has served as a Superintendent in two districts totaling 20 years. In January 2012, he was elected as the National Superintendent, becoming the first Indigenous Australian to lead a denomination. At Kingsley College in Melbourne he gained his Bachelor of Ministry degree and is currently undertaking a doctorate of Ministry studies through Tabor College Adelaide. Rex is married to Lien who came to Australia as a refugee from Vietnam in 1979.  They have two adult children.   Rex’s family comes from central south west Queensland and are part of the Bigambul People.

Rev Rex Rigby has served as a Superintendent in two districts totaling 20 years. In January 2012, he was elected as the National Superintendent of the Wesleyan Methodist Church of Australia, becoming the first Indigenous Australian to lead a denomination. At the 2015, South Pacific Regional Conference he was installed as President of SPRC.

Rex grew up on the Southside of Brisbane and became a Christian at the age of thirteen while attending the Aboriginal Inland Mission, then later attended the Joyful News Mission in Fortitude Valley where he met and later married his wife Lien who came to Australia as a refugee from Vietnam in 1979. They have two adult children.
